Back on stage is Rihanna. The NFL, the American football league, and Apple Music, which will serve as the Super Bowl’s official sponsor in 2023 in place of Pepsi, have chosen the Barbados singer to perform at the most-watched sporting event in the country.

Seth Dudowsky, the head of the NFL, expressed his enthusiasm, which was echoed by Jay-Z, Rihanna’s role model and the creator of Roc Nation, who is also one of the Halftime executive producers:

Although Taylor Swift and Britney Spears’ names have been mentioned for months, it will be Riri’s turn to perform during the Halftime Show. She revealed the news by posting a photo of her hand holding a football. Riri will carry on the traditions of so many of her colleagues, including Beyoncé, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Coldplay, Lady Gaga, and The Weeknd, who have thrilled fans with incredible performances in previous editions. Remember when Janet Jackson’s top unexpectedly came off during a duet with Justin Timberlake, exposing her breasts? Or how about in 2022, when Eminem imitated Colin Kaepernick by kneeling in protest of racism and police brutality?
Since the release of her most recent album, Anti, in 2016, Rihanna has been absent from the music industry. She starred in Ocean’s 8 with Cate Blanchette and Sandra Bullock, was chosen the ambassador of Barbados, gave birth for the first time, and, most significantly, concentrated on Fenty Beauty and Savage Fenty, becoming the country’s youngest self-made billionaire after experiencing such success.
So, the prospect of her coming back on stage is eagerly anticipated. Will she host visitors? How will she dress? The majority of fans, however, are hoping that Rihanna would perform some new songs as well as her greatest hits to promote an upcoming album. We’ll have to wait until February 12, 2023, when the Super Bowl will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, to find out if their dream will come true.
