Why Chanel did a fashion show in Florence

Chanel’s fashion show organized at the Leopolda in Florence, in fact, did not present a new collection. It was the replica of the Métiers d’Art 2021/2022, staged on December 7, 2021, re-proposed in a traveling version with garments and accessories with a very high rate of craftsmanship which have arrived in stores. A savoire-faire that connects well with Italy, chosen as a destination also because many of the processes present on the garments and accessories of the show come from Italy.Chanel in fact tends to incorporate the best manufactures into its production chain, acquiring the best companies from which it historically supplies itself with a double operation that protects ancient crafts and with which it wins the exclusivity of certain excellences.

The French workers, on the other hand, will gradually be condensed into the new M19 space, just outside Paris, where the collection had paraded in December.

The one in Florence was therefore an event show (with Penelope Cruz and Sofia Coppola sitting in the front row) that arrives shortly after the setting up by the sea of the Cruise 2023 fashion show in Montecarlo (where Charlotte Casiraghi, Kristen Stewart and Vanessa Paradis) and which reaffirms the true function of the fashion shows today: catalyzing the global attention of the media, as well as showing the clothes, with locations and characters that create hype around the maison.
