With a capsule collection in honor of the legendary manga series by Naoko Takeuchi and her magical companions around disobedient schoolgirl Usagi Tsukino, goddess and guardian of the moon, who have amassed millions of fans over the years, including Billie Eilish, Hunter Schafer, and Lizzo, Jimmy Choo is marking the 30th anniversary of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. As Sandra Choi, creative director of Jimmy Choo, points out, the collaboration glamorously reimagined the fashion of the five heroines by concentrating on footwear and taking inspiration from their self-assured personas that infiltrated popular culture as models of female empowerment.

Starting with a pair of knee-high stretch boots that showcase Moon’s active attitude and are embellished in trademark fuchsia with crystals, the end result is an exclusive ode to the Sailor Moon universe. Sailor Mercury, also known as Ami Mizuno, is the protector of the water planet and the bearer of wisdom. As such, blue is one of her favorite colors and adds a distinctive touch to these platform boots in shiny patent leather. Sailor Venus, the protector of love, is the inspiration for a pair of orange platform shoes with ankle straps embellished with Swarovski crystals, while Sailor Mars is depicted by a pair of scarlet patent leather pumps with a pointed toe and stiletto heel. Finally, Sailor Jupiter’s brash personality is reflected in his green leather combat boots with wide heels and rubber lug bottoms. The capsule is completed by a One Varenne Quad handbag decorated with black and white drawings of Sailor Moon and her boyfriend, Tuxedo Kamen, in addition to the five shoe styles .
Beginning on February 14, the Jimmy Choo x Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon collection will be offered exclusively in Europe at Selfridges with a pop-up shop themed after the fantastical world of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.
