FIORUCCI COMES BACK TO ITALY

A new CEO and creative director will continue from where they left off.

Writing a new page in the brand’s history, Fiorucci formally announces its return to Italy. With Dona Bertarelli’s full acquisition, the brand will begin a process of creative reconstruction in its hometown of Milan under the direction of newly recruited CEO Alessandro Pisani and new Creative Director Francesca Murri. In order to motivate a new generation, Pisani declared, “Our mission now is to revive that unmistakably playful attitude.” Francesca Murri, a designer with expertise at Versace, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Givenchy, and Ferragamo, has been given this responsibility. During Milan Fashion Week in September of next year, her debut line for Fiorucci will be unveiled.

Elio Fiorucci, a visionary businessman, launched his store on Galleria Passarella in Milan in 1967 after being moved to introduce his homeland to the counter-cultural innovation of London’s Carnaby Street. In 1976, he exported his idea to New York after improving his approach and beginning to produce his own collections. The well-known “daytime Studio 54” of Fiorucci hosted Andy Warhol’s offices for Interview magazine and welcomed up-and-coming artists like Keith Haring and Madonna, growing into a bustling cultural center. It is a portion of Italian history that has recently been revitalized in the place where it all began.
