Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the brand are four celebrity stylists.
Moschino is organizing a runway show in Milan on September 21 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the company and to pay tribute to “the remarkable achievements” of founder Franco Moschino “and his lasting legacy” in the wake of Jeremy Scott’s resignation. This season’s collection will be led by stylists Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Katie Grand, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, and Lucia Liu, who each created 10 modern looks that drew inspiration from Franco Moschino’s dramatic archive. The show is the first significant event for the brand outside the purview of the designer after 10 years of artistic leadership under Scott.
According to WWD, Massimo Ferretti, CEO of parent company Aeffe, is currently exploring potential replacements for Moschino’s most recent creative director. Rossella Jardini, a longtime creative director who carried on Franco Moschino’s work for 20 years, was followed by Scott.
Aeffe’s revenue in 2022 increased by 8.4% to 352 million euros from 325 million euros in 2021. Moschino reportedly accounts for 70% of total sales, despite the group not breaking down turnover by brand. Since that time, Aeffe has been granted permission to create and market both the brand’s male and female product lines. After the designer passed away in 1994, Aeffe bought out 70% of the business and carried on expanding the brand internationally. However, it won’t fully own Moschino until 2021, when it will have paid €66.6 million for the remaining 30%. The group also paid 3.6 million euros for the right to produce and distribute Love Moschino’s womenswear collections internally, and it now has authority over the brand’s distribution in mainland China, demonstrating the expanding significance of the brand.
