Kim Kardashian speaks out about the Balenciaga scandal

Kim Kardashian, a brand ambassador for Balenciaga, gave in to fan pressure to publicly expose herself and criticized the fashion house for its most contentious campaign to date, Balenciaga Objects. The creator of Skims released a statement via her Twitter account, calling the “disturbing photographs” of kids holding BDSM harnesses and teddy bear bags, as well as one image that had court papers referencing Supreme Court cases on child pornography, “shaken” her:

“Although I have been disgusted and upset by recent Balenciaga campaigns, I have been quiet for a few days because I wanted a chance to engage with their team to learn how this could have happened for myself. I’ve been rattled by the distressing photos as a mother of four. Children’s protection must be prioritized above all else, and attempts to normalize child abuse of any type have no place in our culture.”

She continued by expressing her gratitude for the removal of the advertisements and Balenciaga’s apology. After speaking with them, she expressed her confidence that the brand team is aware of the gravity of the situation and will take the necessary precautions to ensure that this never occurs again. The decision will ultimately depend on Balenciaga’s “willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened in the first place — & the actions I am expecting to see them take to protect children,” Kim continued, adding that she is “currently reevaluating my relationship with the brand.”

Many people question if this will be the last collaboration between Kim and Balenciaga. The claims made by Kardashian are ambiguous. The businesswoman’s friendship, which she started because of her ex-husband, has been stronger over the past year since their divorce from Kanye West, and Demna Gvasalia’s designs have significantly influenced how Kim looks and dresses in her new life without Ye. The ultra-tight, glitzy, and dramatic clothing from the Maison has had a similar effect on her as Lady Diana’s Versace revenge dress did after she left the royal family.Despite the fact that Kim also sports other labels, like as Dolce & Gabbana, with whom she collaborated on the SS23 fashion show, it is difficult to envision her abandoning the company responsible for what is unquestionably her most fashionable era. She stated that everything would depend on how Balenciaga acted, and the fashion house quickly posted a Story apologizing for the advertisement and announcing that it would be pursuing legal action “against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items for our spring 23 campaign photoshoot.” The production company North Six, Inc. and set designer Nicholas Des Jardins are being sued for $25 million, according to the Post, for using Supreme Court-related legal documents in the campaign.
