Adrian Appiolaza Takes Center Stage: Moschino’s New Maestro Embarks on a Theatrical Chapter

After the untimely demise of Davide Renne on November 10, 2023, who had recently assumed the role of creative director at Moschino, the renowned fashion house unveiled its successor on January 30, 2024. Adrian Appiolaza, a distinguished 51-year-old Argentine with an illustrious decade-spanning career, has taken the helm.

Having previously served as the design director of ready-to-wear at Loewe alongside Jonathan Anderson, and prior to that, holding a similar position at Chloé with Clare Waight Keller, Appiolaza is set to oversee Moschino’s Women’s, Men’s, and Accessories collections. He steps into the shoes of Jeremy Scott, who served as the creative director from 2013 to 2023. Massimo Ferretti expresses delight, stating, “We are delighted and honored to welcome Adrian to the Aeffe family,” highlighting Appiolaza’s unique blend of experience, creativity, and profound knowledge of fashion history.

Adrian Appiolaza, in response, reflects on Franco Moschino’s iconic creations, citing the 3D postcard jackets, the dress with a skirt made from twenty bras, and numerous trompe-l’oeil designs. Acknowledging Moschino’s historical significance, he expresses gratitude to Massimo Ferretti for the opportunity to enter this storied world. Appiolaza is poised to usher Moschino into a new chapter, promising a theatrical touch in the authentic style of the brand.
