Exploring the Fusion: Fendi, Hiroshi Fujiwara, and Pokémon Unite in a Year of the Dragon Capsule Collection
Fendi embarks on a distinctive collaboration, uniting creative forces with Hiroshi Fujiwara, the founder of Fragment, and Pokémon, as part of the esteemed Friends of Fendi project. In anticipation of the upcoming Year of the Dragon, Kim Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi, the artistic directors of the LVMH house, curated an exclusive capsule collection. This special collaboration transforms Fendi’s iconic accessories, including the Peekaboo and Baguette bags, into vibrant expressions featuring dragon-type Pokémon such as Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite.
Silvia Venturini Fendi, the artistic director of accessories and men’s collections, emphasized the significance of the maison’s distinctive bag shapes, considering them as representative forms and integral logos. She noted, “Our workmanship is also an important aspect.” The collaboration embraces a playful approach, merging Fendi’s savoir-faire with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s creative touch, turning the bags into dynamic, pop mini-monuments.
The capsule collection extends beyond accessories, encompassing leisurewear garments for both men and women, including t-shirts, hoodies, and silk pajamas. The imaginative fusion of Pokémon in various evolutionary phases is brought to life through 3D inlaid leather on iconic Fendi objects.
Moreover, the collaboration introduces a limited edition Dragonite crafted by Fendi artisans, featuring quality finishes and adorned with a silk FF scarf bearing the brand’s insignia. As an innovative extension, the partnership extends to Pokémon Go, the mobile game by Niantic. Players can acquire digital avatar items from the capsule collection starting January 4, 2024, available in selected stores and on the official website. The collaboration encapsulates a dynamic blend of luxury, creativity, and digital engagement, marking a significant moment in the intersection of high fashion and contemporary pop culture.
