The series will be available on AppleTV+ starting on September 20.
Supermodels from the 1990s are reappearing. A docuseries on Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, and Linda Evangelista was going to be released in 2020, and the leading ladies were all quite excited about it. “My sisters Christy, Linda, Cindy and I are extremely excited to share our story with the world,” Naomi wrote at the time on Instagram. Crawford added, “I’m excited to reunite with my friends to both celebrate and examine the way supermodels transcended the traditional perceptions and limits of modeling in the fashion industry through time. We hope our journey as seen in the docuseries will encourage, motivate, and inspire young people around the world.”
Here is what we currently know (so far) about The Super Models, which has finally had a trailer published after three years of anticipation.
Who will participate
The four top models who changed the history of fashion and the industry by transforming models into real stars will be featured in the docuseries, which is being produced by Apple TV+ by Imagine Documentaries and One Story Up and directed by Academy Award winner Roger Ross Williams and Larissa Bills. These top models are Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, and Linda Evangelista. Returning to the screen, the four females will share undiscovered tales and career-related secrets about the enchanted decade between the 1980s and the 1990s.
What will the topic of the series be?
Through brand-new interviews, The Super Models will transport us back in time and explain how four distinct women from four distinct regions of the world grew to be iconic figures who are still remembered today. We will be able to follow the four top models from the start of their careers to their apex, the golden age when they walked arm in arm for Gianni Versace and all the major brands, appeared in George Michael’s music videos (Freedom! 90), and graced the covers of all the magazines, through never-before-seen videos, interviews, and runway shows:
“The Supermodels’ travels back to the 1980s, when four women from different corners of the world united in New York. Already forces in their own right, the gravitas they achieved by coming together transcended the industry itself. Their prestige was so extraordinary that it enabled the four to supersede the brands they showcased, making the names Naomi, Cindy, Linda and Christy as prominent as the designers who styled them. Today, the four supermodels remain on the frontlines of culture through activism, philanthropy and business prowess. As the fashion industry continues to redefine itself – and women’s roles within it – this is the ultimate story of power and how four women came together to claim it, paving the way for those to follow.”
The Super Models won’t be accessible to stream on Apple TV+ until 20 September 2023, so we’ll have to wait until the end of the summer to view it.
